While the opposition intensifies its suspicion on the “delayed” release of the participation rate after each survey phase during the current elections of Lok Sabha, the leaders of the Alliance indicated will meet the electoral commission on Friday to seek responses to this subject.
The opposition has raised eyebrows regarding the publication of electoral participation data, accusing the publication of the publication of the figures.
The data in phase 1 of Lok Sabha surveys which took place on April 19 were published on April 30, while the figures for the second phase which took place on April 26 were also published on the same day.
Meanwhile, the participation rate for the third phase (May 7) of the elections was published yesterday (May 9).
“Is there a problem with the EVMs?”
The president of the congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, wrote a letter on Wednesday to this highlighting the “differences of the voting data”.
The chief of the Grand Old Party wrote on X: “On April 30, 2024, the electoral commission published the final data for the participation of the voters for the first 2 phases of the elections for the 2024 Lok Sabha. The data were published 11 days after the first phase of survey (April 19, 2024) and 4 days after the second phase (April 26, 2024). In this regard, our first question for the Electoral Commission is-Why has the Commission delayed the publication of voter participation data? »»
He added that earlier, the ballot used to publish the data within 24 hours of the vote and said that it had not been justified despite its interrogation by opposition leaders and political activists.
“Is there a problem with the EVMs?” Asked Kharge.
Clarification of the CE
In the midst of opposition allegations, the election organization said that the stand data of the “actual number of votes questioned” are available for candidates shortly after the vote.
In a statement published last week, the EC also said that it attached “the importance due” to the timely release of the voter participation figures after each phase of the SOND is available with the candidates, which is a requirement legal.
The EC officially shared the turnover of the first two phases of Lok Sabha’s polls on April 30. According to CE figures, a participation rate of 66.14% was recorded in phase one and 66.71% in phase two of Lok Sabha Sabha in progress.
For the third voting phase which took place on Tuesday, the application of electoral participation of the EC showed on Wednesday that 65.55% of the votes had taken place.
Other problems
Although the voting participation data will remain the focal point of Reunion, the leaders of the India alliance, including those of the Congress, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the CPI (M), will also raise the question of the alleged “Use of religious symbols” by the BJP in its campaign.
Various opposition parties also approached the voting panel on the speeches delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders in survey campaigns, alleging that the model code of conduct had been raped.
On the basis of the complaints filed by the opposition parties as well as the BJP, the survey committee had previously published opinions to the president of the BJP JP Nadda and the president of the Kharge congress for alleged violations of the code of conduct model by their leaders of their parties.
