‘Incredible athlete’ Luke Shaw has ‘Kyle Walker aura’ for Manchester United

Luke Shaw has had the most praise for a full-back this season – being compared to Kyle Walker.

That’s in the eyes of former England and West Ham striker Dean Ashton, who believes the Manchester United left-back is showing shades of his Three Lions colleague.

The comparison was made during Man United’s clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford with the home side leading 2-0 at half-time. A Bruno Fernandes penalty extended the Red Devils advantage.

Shaw, who was substituted for Tyrell Malacia at half-time, was instrumental in the zero goals conceded, winning his battles against an in-form Noni Madueke.

Ashton said in a commentary for talkSPORT: “He’s had such a great Luke Shaw season, he’s starting to have that aura that Kyle Walker has.

“He’s such an incredible athlete, so fast on the pitch, that players find it very difficult once they get into a one-on-one situation with him.”

The praise comes at a time when Walker’s stock has rarely been higher after starring in Manchester City’s Champions League final qualification.

In the semi-final against Real Madrid, Walker faced one of football’s toughest tasks as he lined up against Vincius Jr.

The Brazilian scored in the first leg but in the second Walker repeatedly ruled him out of the game, a challenge Shaw could face next season as United seek to seal a Champions League return.
