Calling artificial intelligence (AI) the most exciting growth frontier for Jio, Ambani presented ambitious plans on this front at the 46th Reliance Industries AGM.
Ambani pledged the company’s commitment to build up to 2,000MW of AI-ready computing capacity, both in cloud and edge locations, while embracing sustainable practices and a greener future.
A global AI revolution is reshaping the world and smart applications will redefine and revolutionize industries, economies and even daily life, sooner than expected, the senior RIL official said.
To remain globally competitive, India must harness AI for innovation, growth and national prosperity, he said.
“Here is my promise to our compatriots. Seven years ago, Jio promised high-speed connectivity to everyone, everywhere. We delivered on their promises. Today, Jio promises AI to everyone, everywhere. And we will get there,” he promised.
Within the RIL Group, the talent pool and capabilities are expanded to quickly assimilate the latest global AI innovations, especially recent advances in generative AI.
“Looking ahead, Jio Platforms wants to lead efforts to develop India-specific AI models and AI-based solutions across all domains, bringing the benefits of AI to citizens, Indian businesses and government,” he said.
India has the scale, the data and the talent, Ambani noted.
“But we also need a digital infrastructure in India that can handle the immense computational demands of AI. As this sector grows, we are committed to building up to 2,000MW of AI-ready computing capacity, both in the cloud and at the edge… Over the next few years In five years, we We plan to shift most of our energy footprint from connectivity and digital services to green energy, which is not only environmentally friendly but also cheaper,” he said.
