According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Anthony Terry found himself in a sticky situation after allegedly stealing a woman’s boat worth $100,000 near the Conch House Marina.

The boat, now afloat but listing heavily, has become a viral sensation on Facebook, with images of its accident spreading quickly.

Describing the scene, an eyewitness said: “He approached my daughter and her boyfriend in his underwear with a boat bumper attached to his arm and wearing an ankle monitor. »

Wildlife officers reported that on Tuesday he stole the boat from a private dock just south of the Conch House Marina.

Terry’s unusual attire and suspicious behavior raised eyebrows, especially given his background; he was reportedly on probation for domestic battery, a detail confirmed by the FWC.

Another account from a concerned boater who wished to remain anonymous painted a picture of Terry’s inability to sail.

“It was very clear that he had very little navigational knowledge,” remarked the boater. “He had trouble with the basic knots. He didn’t know if he should tie his anchor.

Meanwhile, the boat’s owner was unaware of the theft until contacted by local authorities. Now faced with thousands of dollars in repair costs for her ship, she finds herself grappling with the consequences of Terry’s actions.

As the investigation unfolded, Terry was charged with grand larceny, highlighting the serious consequences of his impulsive joyride.
