In Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh, religious conversions are happening at the behest of the state, says Amit Shah – Firstpost

The home minister also accused the Congress of indulging in scams and said that if the BJP was voted to power in the state, those who committed corruption would be behind bars. He promised that the BJP would not interfere in anyone’s religious matters and would take action against forced conversions.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, saying religious conversions were on the rise in Chhattisgarh under the party-led government, which he said used the state apparatus to forcibly convert poor tribes.

Addressing a rally in Pandariya constituency in the poll-bound state, the home minister also accused the Congress of indulging in scams and said if the BJP was voted to power in state, those who committed acts of corruption would be behind bars.

He termed Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as the “prepaid CM” of the Congress, accusing him of turning the exchequer into an ATM of the grand old party.

“Under Congress rule, religious conversions are on the rise. The Constitution gives the freedom to every citizen to follow the faith of their choice. But they have started using the state machinery to convert poor tribal people, which is not in the interest of the state. As a result, clashes broke out in every house and village in the state, and the law and order situation deteriorated,” he said.

Our government will not interfere in anyone’s religious matters, but if any government encourages conversion, stern action will be taken by the BJP to prevent it, he added.

“CM Bhupesh Baghel is a prepaid Congress CM and if he comes back to power, he will be exchanged (like an ATM card) by his party and all state money will be taken by Delhi,” Shah said, targeting the leadership of Congress. .

The Home Minister also accused Chief Minister Baghel of indulging in appeasement and said his countdown had begun.
