The Olympic gold medalist, Imane Khelif, of Algeria, which was at the center of gender controversy in the world of sport, sent a strong warning to the American president Donald Trump, declaring that she would not be intimidated by the politician when he was aiming for the second gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
The American president signed an executive decree prohibiting transgender women last month to participate in women’s sports categories.
Khelif: “I’m not transgender”
Trump had previously declared that the 25 -year -old fighter had gone from a man, even if it was not the case.
“I will give you a simple answer-the American president has made a decision related to transgender policies in America,” she told ITV News British.
“I am not transgender. It does not concern me, and it does not intimidate me. It’s my answer. “
Olympic chiefs earlier this week recommended that boxing will be included at the 2028 games in Los Angeles after a new director has been temporarily recognized.
The decision must still be related to rubber by a complete session of the International Olympic Committee (CIO) this week in Greece.
“The second gold medal, of course,” said Khelif. “In America, Los Angeles.”
She added: “This experience taught me a lot. I believe that if the former Imune operated at 50% of its potential, then the Imane Khalif today is even more motivated and determined.
“I learned from this campaign so much against me, and what happened at the Paris Olympic Games was a revealing experience. I feel even stronger now than before. ”
The triumph of Khelif in Paris, as well as that of Taiwan yu-te Lin, sparked a debate eligibility for sexes, with high-level characters such as Trump and Elon Musk Pser.
She revealed that she was “deeply mentally affected” by the “big media campaign” around her, and said her mother attended the hospital almost daily when her family shared the weight of the attacks.
Khelif and Lin have been disqualified from the 2023 world championships of the International Boxing Boxing Association after the organization, the longtime director of amateur boxing, said they had failed the sexual eligibility tests.
The IOC has broken the links with IBA on financial, governing and ethical concerns. IBA is led by Russian Russian linked to the Kremlin Umar Kremlev.
Last month, the IOC provisionally recognized world boxing like the body to supervise sport during future games.
Khelif: “I’m not afraid”
“As we say in Algeria, those who have nothing to hide should have no fear,” Khelif told ITV. “The truth has become clear to the Paris Olympic Games – injustice was exhibited and later the truth was recognized by the Olympic Committee in Paris.”
She added: “For me, I see myself like a girl, like any other girl. I was born a girl, raised as a girl, and I lived all my life as alone.
“I have participated in many tournaments, including the Tokyo Olympic Games and other major competitions, as well as four world championships.
“All of this took place before you start winning and winning titles. But once I started to succeed, the campaigns against me started. ”
The debate on transgender athletes and athletes with differences in sex development (DSD) in women’s sport was a central problem in the presidential race of the current IOC, which ends on Thursday.
The three main candidates – Juan Antonio Samaranch Junior, Sebastian Coe and Kirsty Coventry – spoke of the need to “protect the category of women”.
The president of global athletics, Coe, told AFP in an interview last year: “If we do not protect female sport and we do not have a set of clear and unambiguous policies to do this, we incubate the risk of losing female sport.”
Khelif said: “I hope the next president of the IOC leads with a real sporting spirit, remains attached to the Olympic principles and maintains the values of fair play.”
