“I’m so sorry to have caused pain”

Jewel apologizes to his fans and the LGBTQIA+ community after having occurred at the inauguration ball of Robert F. Kennedy Jr ..

The singer “Intuition” addressed social media to address her fans after an appearance at an event in honor of the choice of Donald Trump to the post of secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

“I’m really sorry to have caused pain,” she said in Instagram video published on Friday, January 24. “Especially in my LGBTQIA+ community because you are treasures. You make the world better. You made my life better. And I will not stop fighting.

Since Trump took up his duties, he attacked communities like the LGBTQIA+ community by prohibiting hoisting the flags of pride in the facilities of the American government, both in the country and abroad. During his inauguration speech after taking oath, Trump also attacked the Trans community by calling the federal government to define sex as being only male or female.

Jewel noted in her apologies that she thought that “the only way to change is in the relationship. It is not in isolation or by isolating. It is by being in relation, by reaching out, having difficult conversations, and I really hope that we will be able to overcome our suffering and progress towards an understanding on both sides.

“It hurts me and I’m really sorry. Some of my longtime fans have the impression that I drop them, “she continued. “I want to be a ray of light in this world. I strive to be a ray of light in your lives and I know that in moments of darkness, we must make light grow. So I will wake up tomorrow and try again, and I will count on each of you to do the same. I have so much love and admiration for each of you.

Jewel explained that his decision to occur for RFK Jr., a fervent skeptical in the face of vaccines, was due to his plea in favor of mental health.

“If there is something that I have learned in the past 20 years, it is because mental health affects everyone’s life, whatever the political parties,” she said. “I contacted the last administration and spoke with the general surgeon of the mental health crisis with which our country is confronted. I don’t know if you know the statistics, but they are dark.

She continued: “If I expect to agree 100 % with people who might want to help me, I will never leave the bench. I don’t think it’s how activism works, wait until everything is perfect enough to participate. It’s actually … because things are so imperfect that we have to find ways to commit and participate. And we have to act now. We cannot wait another four years.

Jewel noted that even if she “does not agree on all policies”, “if I can help shape policies, make sure that mental health is in conversation … if I can help put resources or mental health tools in the hands of the most vulnerable. Who needs it, I will try and I will fight.

“And I understand that my words were too simplistic. Half of our country feels hope at the moment, and I’m honored. And half of our country feels deprived of its rights, frightened and vulnerable, and it is unacceptable. »»
