I’m a Chelsea fan who left dramatic win over Manchester United on 90 minutes and it felt like a defeat

Chelsea fan Andy Jacobs couldn’t have picked a worse time to leave a match early.

The talkSPORT presenter made the trip to Stamford Bridge to watch the Blues host Manchester United in what turned out to be one of the games of the season.

Chelsea led 2-0, then 3-2, and completed a remarkable turnaround by scoring in the 10th and 11th minutes of added time to win 4-3.

A stadium full of Chelsea fans was rewarded for making the trip to Stamford Bridge on a rainy night as the heroic Cole Palmer scored twice in stoppage time to complete his comeback.

But Jacobs, a Chelsea super fan, wasn’t one of them.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs show, the presenter explained exactly why he missed his team’s late return.

He said: “I left after 90 minutes – I was so angry with myself!

“What made it worse was that the day before I played for 95 minutes for Brentford against Brighton – the worst game I’ve ever seen! I didn’t leave until the end, but it was what I have done.”

And when asked by co-presenter Paul Hawksbee what made him leave the match before the final whistle, Jacobs explained that he didn’t expect so much action in the final moments of the match .

He said: “I think there are extenuating circumstances, a very late kick-off, I had to get up early. 6.45am is the time I get up to do this show, so that m It seemed very late.

“It was just pathetic! I’ve been playing football long enough to know I shouldn’t have done it and afterwards it felt like a loss, I was so angry with myself!”

Palmer’s goal in the 111th minute is officially the last winning goal in Premier League history.

The victory moves Chelsea into the top half of the Premier League table, while Man United remain in sixth place, nine points behind Tottenham.

This comeback is one of the highlights of a season to forget for Chelsea.

Jacobs is well aware that such moments are rare for Blues fans these days.

He added: “You might be mad at me, you might think I’m pathetic. But I promise you, none of you could be angrier at me than I am at myself.

“I feel cheated! I cheated myself. The number of times you go to football and it’s so disappointing. Like on Saturday I stayed the whole time for the Burnley game. So disappointing, I’m left there saying: ‘What a waste of an afternoon!’

“It serves me well and I’m really, really annoyed with myself. But I did it and I can’t get it back.

“Every time this moment is replayed, I will always know that I wasn’t there and it’s hard to bear. It’s pathetic!

“But regardless, it was a great match.”
