Illinois man charged with sexually abusing 13-year-old girl he met on social media: police

An Antioch, Illinois man was arrested on Saturday after traveling to Wisconsin to pick up a teenage girl he met on social media, drive her home and sexually assault her .
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said George Soriano, 25, faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of travel to meet a minor.
Deputies responded to a residence on North Bonham Court in unincorporated Antioch at around 3.15am on Saturday after a caller told the 911 operator that she and a friend had been picked up by Soriano from their home in Wisconsin.

After picking up the girls, Soriano drove them to his home and allegedly sexually assaulted one of them, aged 13.

Both girls were picked up by deputies and taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
The sheriff’s office said further investigation revealed that Soriano had met the girls on social media and that on Saturday he communicated with them through the social media app and planned to pick them up.

According to a department press release, the girls said they feared Soriano because he had a gun.

Police also said Soriano may have met at least one of the girls before Saturday’s incident.
A search of Soriano’s home revealed that he also owned a cannabis growing operation.

Soriano was arrested and held in Lake County Jail, pending a court hearing on Sunday.
