Illinois Governor JB Pritzker won more than $1.4 million from gambling in 2024, according to his federal tax returns.
Pritzker, a Democrat widely considered a possible presidential candidate in 2028, and his wife reported a total income of nearly $10.7 million that year, according to state and federal filings shared Wednesday by his gubernatorial campaign with NBC News.
The governor collected the gambling money after playing blackjack at a Las Vegas casino during a vacation trip with his wife and friends, his campaign told NBC.
CNBC reached out to Pritzker’s campaign for comment on his tax filings.
Pritzker plans to donate the winnings, a campaign aide told NBC. He is expected to hold a news conference later Thursday morning, his aide said.
Pritzker has become one of President Donald Trump’s most high-profile adversaries, as the two clash over federal immigration operations in Illinois and elsewhere.
