“If you make $20 an hour working at a fast food restaurant…Is that six figures?”

Fox News’ Jesse Watters said he thought getting paid $20/hour was about six figures a year.

In a PBD podcast episode airing Saturday, Watters and host Patrick Bet-David discussed the recent increase in the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hour in California. Bet-David asked Watters for his views on the law. The Fox News host responded by asking Bet-David to do the math.

“If you make $20 an hour working at a fast food restaurant, is that six figures? » » Watters asked. “No, $40,000… Just double it and add a few zeros,” Bet-David replied. “$40,000 per year, full time.”

“Okay, 40,000 a year. So if your husband or wife is also there, you make a hundred thousand dollars as a family…both working at McDonald’s,” Watters said.

“80 thousand dollars,” Bet-David replied.

“It’s crazy,” Watters said. “Because this job doesn’t require much, so it inflates the entire job sector.”
