Iconic ‘Home Alone’ Home Hits Market in Winnetka

WINNETKA, Ill. — A famous home featured in the holiday classic “Home Alone” hit the market Friday.

The iconic home, located in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, has been listed for sale with an asking price of $5,250,000.

Built in 1921 and completely renovated and expanded in 2018, the 9,126-square-foot Georgian-style home includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a basement and a three-car garage.

While on the exterior the home retains many of the adorable features of the McCallister home, the interior has been completely renovated and features several luxury amenities like a gourmet kitchen, fully equipped gym, cinema and an indoor sports field.

Nestled in the northern suburb of Winnetka, the home is just a half-mile from Lake Michigan and about an hour’s drive from downtown Chicago.

The holiday favorite, “Home Alone,” hit the big screen in 1990, and the north suburban home served as a peaceful backdrop for Kevin McCallister’s antics as he attempted to thwart two attempts by incompetent criminals to burglarize the House.

Even though two bumbling burglars don’t appear to be included in the sale, potential buyers still have a chance to own an iconic piece of cinematic history.

Fans of the film got the opportunity to stay in the house in 2021 when the owners rented it out for just one night on Airbnb.
