One of the workers of the day, who avoided being detained, spoke to ABC7 news of the traumatic effect of the raid.
“I arrived here, and when I started to see the scene, I started to cry. Tears started to leave,” said the man in Spanish. “We are here. We are human beings. We are only here to support and keep our families. ”
Immigrant rights groups quickly condemned the action. The RAID took place around 8:30 a.m. and involved marked and not marked vans, according to the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center, a non -profit day work organization.
“We will not remain silent. Job search is not a crime. Providing those you love is not a crime,” the center said in a social media statement. “Please remain vigilant and spread power, not fear.”
