IAF leads major strikes on Houthi terrorist sites in Yemen

(May 17, 2025 / Jns)

Friday evening, Israeli defense forces launched a large -scale air operation targeting terrorist infrastructure belonging to the Houthi regime supported by Iran in the Hudaydah and Salif ports in Yemen.

Fifteen Israeli air force fighter led to the attack, dropping more than 30 ammunition in the eighth tif attack on Houthi targets since the terrorist group joined war to support Hamas and Hezbollah after the massacre of October 7, 2023.

According to the FDI, the targeted ports serve as centers for arms transfers and illustrate “the systematic and cynical exploitation of the Houthi terrorist regime of the civil infrastructure to advance terrorist activities”.

The strikes were preceded by warnings urging civilians in the region to be evacuated, in order to minimize damage to non-combatants, the army said.

“During the past year and a half, the Houthis terrorist regime operated under the Iranian leadership and funding in order to harm the State of Israel and its allies, undergoing regional stability and disturbing world freedom of navigation,” the FDI said in a statement.

“Any hostile activity in these ports will continue to be prevented,” added the army.

The Minister of Defense Israel Katz warned: “If the Houthis continue to pull missiles in the State of Israel, they will undergo painful blows – and the leaders of the terrorist group will also be affected.

“We will forcefully defend ourselves against any enemy,” he said.

Thursday evening, air sirens were activated in the central region of Israel, including in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, warning of an incoming Houthis ballistic missile.

“After alerts activated shortly in several regions of the country ago, a missile launched from Yemen has been intercepted,” said the army.

Early on Saturday morning, the FDI intercepted a drone launched “from the East” – a term used by the military to refer to Yemen. The sirens were activated in accordance with the protocol. There was no immediate report of injuries or damage.

Since Tuesday evening, the aerial defenses of the Jewish state have intercepted five projectiles drawn on the country by the Houthis.

Last week, the FDI produced a series of strikes at Sanaa International Airport in Yemen. Dozens of air force hunting planes made the trip more than 1,000 miles and dropped 50 bombs in about 15 minutes, deactivating the main airport controlled by Houthi terrorists.

Israeli air force fighter also attacked large power plants in the Houthi capital, as well as a cement plant north of Sanaa, which was used to build tunnels and terrorist infrastructures.

These strikes occur two days after the Houthis pulled a ballistic missile at Ben Gurion international airport near Tel Aviv, injuring six civilians and disturbing air traffic.
