Washington – President Trump promised an interview published on Friday that the United States will not be “trained” to a war with Iran while seeking to prevent the theocratic regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
In an interview with Time Magazine, Trump said that he was not concerned about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attacking Tehran without his OK – but did not reject the possibility of military action.
“He can enter a war. But we are not trained,” said Trump about Netanyahu. “I can go very happy if we cannot get an agreement. If we do not conclude a contract, I will run the pack. ”
Trump also denied information according to which he had “stopped” Netanyahu to attack the enrichment sites of Iranian uranium, but added that “I was not comfortable for them, because I think that we can conclude an agreement without the attack.
“I hope we can. It is possible that we should attack because Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” said the president.
“But I was not comfortable for them, but I did not say no. In the end, I was going to leave this choice to them, but I said that I prefer to bombs by far.”
Last week, Netanyahu said in a video address: “I am determined to prevent Iran from reaching nuclear weapons … I will not give in, I will not let it take up, and I will not retire – not a millimeter.”
The Israeli Prime Minister also said that if it was not for his past actions: “Iran would have had a nuclear weapon 10 years ago.”
US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said last month “this week” “this week” that Trump thought that “all the options are on the table” to prevent Iran from getting the bomb, including strikes that paralyze his missile storage attempts and continue with the enrichment of uranium.
The UN nuclear surveillance dog noted in February that the enrichment of Tehran’s uranium approached weapons levels.
“We cannot have a world with the Ayatollahs with their finger on the nuclear button,” Waltz told the co-animator Martha Raddatz on March 16.
“We cannot have a situation that would lead to an arms race through the Middle East in terms of nuclear proliferation. And President Trump is determined, in one way or another. ”
The American and Iranian diplomats embarked on indirect discussions of the Tehran nuclear program in the Middle East and in Europe-with other deliberations planned for Oman this weekend.
The special presidential envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who led the discussions, also supported the end of the Iranian nuclear program – after having briefly hinted at an agreement, including the “verification” of the enrichment levels to prevent Tehran from producing arms quality equipment.
“The conversation with the Iranians will be a lot on two critical points: one, enriching, as you mentioned – they don’t need to enrich 3.67%,” Witkoff at Sean Hannity from Fox News last week. “In certain circumstances, they are 60%. In other circumstances, 20%. “
“It cannot be and you don’t need to work, as they claim, a” civilian nuclear program “where you enrich 3.67%, so this will be a lot of checking the enrichment program,” he added.
Previous meetings in Oman and Rome have enabled the United States and Iran to talk about separate parts through mediators.
The Director of Policy Planning of the State Department, Michael Anton, is expected to lead the third series of talks on Saturday, his office told Israel.
Elsewhere in his interview in his time, Trump denounced former President Joe Biden for a relaxing sanction against Iran which allowed his terrorist attorney to develop ammunition – including for the invasion of Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which killed around 1,200, including 46 American citizens.
“There was no money for Hamas. There was no money for Hezbollah. There was no money. Iran was broken under Trump, and you know that he knows that,” said the president about the Middle East that his predecessor inherited.
“When Biden came and he removed all the sanctions, he let China and everyone to buy all oil, Iran has developed 300 billion dollars in cash over a period of four years,” he added.
“They started to finance terror again, including Hamas. Hamas was bankrupt. Hezbollah was bankrupt. Iran had no money under me. I blame the Biden administration because they allowed Iran to take over the game without working an agreement. ”
