Disney organized a lottery to choose the first residents of the celebration.

The first residents of Celebration marked their house and their apartments through a lottery organized by the Walt Disney Company.

An Orlando Sentinel’s 1995 article said that the potential owners had been chosen, they made a reimbursable deposit of $ 1,000 and an appointment with a sales consultant. The document said at the time that the houses were worth between $ 127,000 to more than $ 500,000.

McDonald and his family were one of those who entered the Disney lottery. He and his wife wanted to live to celebrate education options for their children.

“Disney was going to build a cutting -edge school, so we wanted to bring the children to enter,” said McDonald.

The first residents began to go to the celebration in 1996, but it was not yet a lively city.

“Many people moved there all the country, but we were not really busy at the time,” said Davison.

Working at the post office during the first years of the celebration allowed Davison to meet many new faces.

“At that time, the post office was quite slow, so many people arriving were residents,” said Davison.

The atmosphere among the residents of the celebration was welcoming, which, according to him, was different from his previous post office position in South Miami.

“Many of them would let you know that you haven’t lived there,” said Davison about Miami. “To celebrate, no one has treated me like a stranger, which is in this regard. You felt like part of the community.”
