“He’s the nicest person. But it’s weird [on set]because I feel like we’re with everyone but each other on the show.
List, 24, and Bertrand, 22, play Tory Nichols and Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz, respectively, in Netflix’s hit martial arts comedy-drama series.
Although they’ve shared several scenes together over the years, their fan-favorite characters currently train in separate dojos — and aren’t romantically linked onscreen.
Naturally, fans went wild last month after news broke that List and Bertrand were a real-life couple and had been dating “for a while.”
“We walked out of the airport recently and were like, ‘Oh, okay. I guess we need to tell people now that we’re dating,” List told us, after being spotted with Bertrand at Los Angeles International Airport on March 22.
“We were just waiting and then it was like, well, the world decided for us, I guess!”
Mary Mouser — who plays Tory’s rival Samantha LaRusso on the show — also spoke to Page Six about List and Bertrand’s blossoming romance.
“Peyton is the coolest human ever, she’s so adorable,” Mouser, 25, said of her longtime friend. “I think the funny thing is, we all bonded so much, and they were obviously already friends when they came on the show…but, yeah, I’m here for whatever makes my castmates happy! “
Co-star Gianni DeCenzo – who plays Demetri and is Bertrand’s close friend – also spoke up, telling us, “I think they’re adorable!”
“I’m a little jealous, I wish Jacob would take me out to eat,” the 20-year-old actor joked. “But no, I think they’re a great couple. I’m so happy for them.
A release date for Season 5 has yet to be announced, but List said it will take place “where we left off with the All Valley Tournament.” Tory was named champion and nicknamed “Queen Cobra” by her peers, only to find minutes later that it had all been set up by Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith).
“So it’s just that she accepts that and has to deal with that,” List explained. “She faces it, like, ‘Is this real? Do I deserve this? Am I the real winner? Who am I anymore if this isn’t it? It was his whole identity.
