Speaking in the corridor outside the Markel shareholders’ meeting, Martin Wiegand, 67, told me that he had attended more than 30 Berkshire meetings and has had the stock for about 40 years.
Wiegand said his father was a friend of the Buffett school and that his parents also attended the Berkshire meetings.
He told me that he wanted Buffett to continue to speak after his assistant, Greg Abel, took the CEO post of the new year.
“I hope he does not drop the microphone and does not come out of the scene, to never be heard again,” said Wiegand. “I hope he teaches a racera course-a kind of podcast is too much to ask,” he continued, adding that he would like Buffett to continue to appear with the media.
“Warren Buffett is the moral authority of finance in America,” he said. “And I think he proved yesterday that he was still the liveliest man in the room at 94.”
