Regarding its defense of the title in the 2025 season, Verstappen has already excluded the possibility of perceiving a victory in the opening race of the season in Melbourne, pointing towards the rhythm of his car RB21 2025 as reason and adding that he needs more work. The 27 -year -old also admitted that McLaren was the favorites before the new season.
Verstappen admits McLaren’s favorites for the 2025 F1 season
“(There is work to do). I think McLaren is the favorite if you look at the times on the turn, and for us, everything did not go completely well,” said Verstappen Racingews365.
“On the other hand, I think we have some ideas on how to improve the car, I also spent a lot of time in the simulator, for example, yesterday with the team.
“I don’t think we can compete for the victory in Melbourne, but I hope we can make improvements in a few races,” added Verstappen.
Verstappen added that Red Bull expected a little more upgrades delivered to the car during the winter, adding that the results and data collected during pre-season tests in Bahrain were not up to the Milton Keynes-based team in the United Kingdom.

“It’s never good enough, of course, but I think we expected a little more ourselves.
“After the test, you have time to go through the data and draw certain conclusions, but as I said, I think we have to improve certain things,” added Verstappen.
