‘I don’t know why he’s not fit enough’: Ex-Pakistani star Jibe to Rohit Sharma on MS Dhoni comparison

Chennai Super Kings showed their mettle and defeated Gujarat Titans in a thrilling IPL 2023 Final on Monday and won their fifth title. Chasing a revised target of 171 in 15 overs (DLS method), Ravindra Jadeja kept his nerves and broke a boundary on the last ball and led CSK to victory by 5 wickets. With this win, CSK equaled Mumbai Indians’ record for having the most titles. As both teams have now won five titles each, comparisons between MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have emerged.
However, the former Pakistani skipper dismissed any such comparison and said there is a big difference between the two players especially in terms of fitness where Rohit lags behind.
“There is a world of difference between the two. Rohit Sharma has a great designation, he is the captain of India. He should lead by example in all aspects, and fitness is a very important aspect. As captain, when you are able to demand something from your teammates, you should have it yourself. You should be top of the line,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.
“When you look at Rohit Sharma, you realize that fitness is one aspect where he can be much better. It will also improve his stick and his confidence. But we’ve been talking about it for a long time. I don’t know why he’s not not fit enough. Maybe he himself knows the reason,” he added.
Coming to the final match, B Sai Sudharsan slammed 96 for 47 as Gujarat Titans posted 214 for four after being asked to strike first.
Set a revised target of 171 in 15 overs after rain interrupted play at the start of the second leg of a final which was pushed back to reserve day due to heavy downpour, CSK completed the task in the last ball, in what could turn out to be Dhoni’s last outing in the T20 league.
Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four against Mohit Sharma in the final two balls to win it for CSK and even as the yellow jersey players ran onto the pitch, Dhoni remained in the dugout with his eyes closed.
Neither the Gujarat Titans juggernaut nor two days of bad weather could prevent Dhoni’s men from leveling their rivals Mumbai Indians, in terms of IPL trophy wins.
