Hyderabad:
Video recordings of animal brutality have emerged from the Kattedan area of Hyderabad.
An unidentified teenager was seen hanging a puppy from a tree with a rope and throwing another from the fourth floor.
In one of the videos, a puppy can be seen tied to a rope around its neck and then hung on a tree.
In the other video, the teenager shows the pup’s face, takes him to the edge of the fourth floor and throws him in the air. He later takes video of the dead puppy on the floor.
The incident was reported to two non-profit organisations, Stray Foundation for Animals and Citizen for Animal Foundation, after which founders Adulapuram Gowtham and Pridhvi Teja reported the incident to Mailardevpally Police.
Pridhvi and Adulapuram said the teenager used drugs and they believe it was under the influence that he brutally killed the puppies. NDTV also accessed the teenager’s social media account where he not only posted videos of the dogs but also of the syringes and drugs.
A first information report, or FIR, has been filed. He faces up to five years in prison.
“The teenager has been identified as a 19-year-old. He could not be arrested as he is a psychiatric patient,” Mailardevpally Circle Inspector P Madhu said.
Police say the teenager was counselled; however, drug use is currently being probed by the narcotics department.
