Hundreds of people will be dismissed in a Mack Trucks manufacturing center in Pennsylvania due to the uncertainty of the market and the prices imposed by President Trump, said the company.
Mack Trucks said he had informed his employees on Thursday at the 7000 Alburtis Road in the canton of Lower Macungie, in Lehigh County, which he dismissed 250 to 350 employees.
“Truck orders in heavy service continue to be negatively affected by market uncertainty on freight rates and demand, possible regulatory changes and the impact of prices,” Mack Trucks said in a statement in Pennlive.
The layoffs will take place over the next 90 days.
“We regret having to take this measure, but we must align production with a reduced demand for our vehicles,” said Mack Trucks.
This installation of 1.7 million square feet is part of the production network of Mack Trucks since 1975, focusing on the assembly of all the class 8 Mack trucks. The factory includes mounting lines on the cabin and chassis, a truck modification center and a engine grooming line.
