Hundreds of migrants illegally cross the border between Mexico and the United States – RT in French

Hundreds of migrants crossed the border between the United States and Mexico, overwhelming the guards. According to a Fox News reporter, Mexican police escorted buses carrying migrants to the border with Texas.
As mentioned by several American media, including Fox News and the British Dailymail, several hundred migrants, mostly from Latin America, illegally crossed the border between Mexico and the United States.
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin posted images on Twitter on December 12 of hundreds of migrants – more than a thousand according to him – illegally crossing the Rio Grande, the natural border between the United States and Mexico. The footage, he said, was shot the day before and represents “the largest group” his team has been able to film.
BREAKING: A huge migrant caravan of over 1,000 people crossed illegally into El Paso, TX last night, making it the largest single group we have ever seen. The city of El Paso reports Border Patrol now has over 5,000 in custody & has released hundreds to city streets. @FoxNewspic.twitter.com/ewUQX757Lt

“The city [texane] of El Paso reports that the [police fédérale des frontières] has [placé] more than 5,000 people in detention and released hundreds of them onto the streets of the city,” he adds.
In another message, he claims that “Mexican police escorted nearly 20 buses full of migrants to Ciudad Juarez, the Mexican city opposite El Paso”, before handing them over to NGOs. From there, again according to the journalist, the migrants then walked towards the river in order to reach American territory.

The associative media El Paso Matters confirmed the crossing and evoked 1,500 people, “one of the greatest mass passages of all time”. The media specifies that these migrants come from a caravan of Central and South American migrants who were stopped for a time in Chihuahua in Mexico before continuing their journey by bus to the border. They would mainly come from Nicaragua, Peru and Ecuador.
Towards an explosion of passages in force?
El Paso Matters also confirms that 5,100 migrants were in detention centers on the American side, while their capacity would be 3,500 people on December 11. According to their information, the immigration services had to release 1,744 migrants in El Paso on December 10. In one week, the federal border police intercepted 15,000 migrants, the highest figure of the year.
This increase in crossings comes as “Title 42” deportations, a health measure dating from 1893 but relaunched in 2020 under Donald Trump, and maintained by the Biden administration, which facilitates the deportations of people who come from countries affected by a pandemic by depriving them of recourse, was blocked on November 16 by American justice.
According to activists from NGOs helping migrants, this measure is paradoxically accompanied by an upsurge in attempts to enter American soil. Migrants expelled under this text escape any legal consequences, and can thus try their luck as many times as they wish.
