According to a calendar of the court available on the spot at the Palais de Brussels de Justice, the suspects include a Huawei lobbyist as well as a senior manager and a purchasing manager of the Chinese technology company. Huawei employees with higher profile can be named Han W. and Valerio O.
All are suspected of corruption, participation in a criminal organization and money laundering. They are presumed innocent.
Two other defendants are entrepreneurs, including one in Europe forum which is accused of “the active corruption of a person occupying a public service in a organization governed by public international law”, according to the calendar.
Forum Europe said in an email: “We have no comments at the moment.”
The arrest warrant, of which Politico reported last week, included that the details of the Belgian prosecutors alleging that the main suspects may have facilitated the payments of the Pro-Huawei letter. “A sum of € 15,000 was offered to the author of the letter 5G, while each co-signer was offered € 1,500,” read the mandate, signed by the judge of inquiry.
“This proposed transaction or transaction would have been approved by Huawei Chinese leaders, in particular by …. () Director of the Brussels office,” he also said.
