Well, it’s been just over a week since the launch of Ghost of Yotei – one of the most anticipated titles of 2025 for us here in PlayStation Nation (sorry, we really need to stop writing this).
A sequel to the beloved Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei takes place hundreds of years after Jin Sakai’s adventures, but it doesn’t try to reinvent the already solid foundations left by its predecessor.
This is what we would call a iterative sequel, building and expanding on existing systems and mechanics – although, as developer Sucker Punch mentioned several times before launch, Yotei strives to be much more open.
In terms of player freedom, it’s definitely a step above what Tsushima offers, and that’s part of why the game received such positive reviews.
Ours Yotei’s Ghost PS5 review concludes: “Building on its predecessor in all the right ways, Ghost of Yotei is an incredible sequel that puts you in charge of your experience.”
He continues: “With improved combat, a better story, and exceptional use of PS5 features, Sucker Punch has outdone itself and created a sequel for the ages. Ghost of Yotei is undoubtedly its greatest work to date.” A well-deserved 9/10.
