Tom Brady was apparently intrigued by the idea of meeting Mike Vrabel in Las Vegas.
However, the future Hall of Fame quarterback didn’t even get the chance to present his vision to his former Patriots teammate.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Vrabel actually told Brady not to bother setting up an interview in Las Vegas since the ex-linebacker was determined to return to New England. The new leader of the Patriots did not directly confirm the information Tuesday, but he admitted that he had been in contact with his old friend.
But Brady, who appears to have a major influence on the Raiders’ head coaching search, doesn’t appear to dwell on Vrabel’s decision. The seven-time Super Bowl champion might already have a new No. 1 target for the Silver and Black.
“I’m told that new minority owner Tom Brady made a personal appeal to Johnson and tried to convince him to come to Las Vegas to build a program with a new general manager,” Dan Graziano of ESPN.

While there is plenty of work to be done in Las Vegas, there could be enough foundation to lure Johnson away from Detroit. And one of those key selling points has to be Brady, who knows better than anyone how to build a winning culture in the NFL.
It’s unclear where the Raiders actually stand in the Johnson sweepstakes. But just like in Brady’s playing days, it would be foolish to count out the legendary signal-caller in a fight for a coveted prize.
