The UIDAI recently extended the deadline for free online updates to June 14, 2025. As the deadline draws near, it is an ideal time to make sure that your Aadhaar details are correct and up to date. You can make the updates through the ‘myAadhaar’ portal for free before the date expires.

The Aadhaar system provides a single source of offline/online identity verification in India for Aadhaar number holders. Once Aadhaar number holders enlist, they can use it to authenticate and establish their identity several times using electronic means or offline verification.

How to Update Aadhaar Online:

Step 1: Visit the UIDAI’s official website.

Step 2: After selecting ‘My Aadhaar,’ choose ‘Update Your Aadhaar.’

Step 3: Click on the ‘Document Update’.

Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar number and Captcha code, and then proceed to ‘Send OTP’.

Step 5: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Select the details you want to update, like name, address, date of birth or others.

Step 7: Submit the updated information and upload the required documents.

Step 8: Submit your request. You will get an SMS with your Update Request Number (URN) to track the status of your update.

Key Points to Note:

Date of Birth/Gender Updates: You can only make one-time changes to your date of birth or gender.

Biometric Updates: An Aadhaar centre is required for the changes to biometric details like fingerprints, iris scans or photos.
