If the NJ’s transit strike you worry about how to enter and get out of New York this weekend, the good news is that there are a number of ways to go to the city that do not imply a boat or swimming.
The bad news is that NJ Transit says that even the alternative services interrupted will barely help to take into account its 350,000 daily riders, which advises to work at home if it is an option.
The strike does not seem to be resolved until Sunday at the earliest, so we gathered alternatives (relatively) easy for travel to and from the continent this weekend.
There are still trains between NJ and NYC
The Trans-Hudson line of port authority, known with love under the name of Path Train, was the alternative faithful to NJ Transit for generations, although a little delicate for people who do not live on its routes.
If you can go to Newark, Harrison, Jersey City or Hoboken, you can lead the way to the World Trade Center or Midtown via the 33rd Street Line for $ 3.

Lines of the World Trade Center
The WTC station has access to two lines from the road to New Jersey, 17 ferry routes, 30 MTA bus routes, a bunch of cycle paths and 12 metro lines – A, C, E, J, R, W, Z, 1, 2, 3, 4. Jersey and you could also drive).

The 33rd Street Line will pick you up in Journal Square, Grove Street and Newport in Jersey City. You can also take a train at the 33rd rue de Hoboken.
Once your train crosses in Manhattan, it stops at Christopher, 9th, 14th, 23rd and 33rd streets, all along the sixth avenue.
Fans of Knicks, this train will take you to MSG and Penn Station Friday evening. Simply bring it to the last stop and walk in a crosstown block west to the seventh avenue.
But don’t forget to take into account enough time!
Although path trains are abundant and full of life during the work week, they are sorry and capricious on weekends. And for reasons beyond understanding, the two lines of 33rd street are combined in one during the weekend, forcing the people of Jersey City to mix with Hoboken folks and to take much more time for everyone.
All on board, Amtrak
Several Amtrak lines cross the New Jersey, sharing the same slopes of the northeast corridor as NJ Transit uses. Unfortunately for commuters, however, they have much fewer stops in the garden and are generally higher.
The easiest way to give meaning to the options is to hit a starting point and a destination on the Amtrak site or on its application. But be notified: prices fluctuate with specific lines and availability, and although a one -way coach ticket from Trenton to New York is purchased for months could cost as little as $ 10 depending on the day of the day, a last minute purchase could cost almost $ 120.

Bus to the Big Apple

From Monday, there will be four regional key park and ride lots operating only on weekdays, during peak periods:
- Secaucus junction to the port authority (with adult round trip tickets for New York for $ 8)
- The PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel at the Port Authority bus (trips from PNC are operated by Academy Bus, and tickets must be purchased via this service) (round-trip tickets for $ 48)
- Hamilton railway resort at Newark Penn station and on the way (round-trip tickets for $ 24)
- Woodbridge Center Mall at Chemin Harrison station (round-trip tickets for $ 14)

But during the strike, NJ Transit says that he plans to make railway tickets in the meantime for the bus and tram lines.
Tickets and allow NJ transit train will not be accepted in the Amtrak, MTA, Patco, Septa, Ferries or Private Carrier buses.

The shuttle between New Jersey and New York by boat is the OG form of municipal transport and can be much more pleasant than the underground route, but it costs much more than other alternatives.
Most ferries welcome bikes. Between Jersey City and New York, you can take a Citibike aboard the ferry and accept it on each side of the Hudson.

NY NY Waterway: The New York Way of the Navigable Way brings the commuters through the Hudson river. There are ports in Edgewater, Weehawken, Hoboken, Jersey City and South Amboy. Commuters from other cities also have the possibility of bus to ports.
