(CBS DETROIT) – A consumer alert tonight to watch out for fake masks if you’re trying to buy an N95 or KN95 mask.
The authorities have several ways to protect you against buying counterfeit products.

Some telltale signs of a counterfeit:
- N95 masks have no ear loops, only headbands that go behind the head.
- If the price seems too high, it’s probably a scam.
- There is also no N95 mask for children.

Regarding KN95 masks:
- Look for these codes printed on the masks; the only codes approved by the FDA.
- You can also feel the material, and if it feels too flimsy, it’s probably too good to be true.
