Whittni Morgan, the former national champion of BYU of Panguitch, Utah, ranked fifth and eighth in the races of 3,000 and 5,000 meters, respectively, during the weekend during the inaugural event of the Grand Chelem in Kingston, in Jamaica.
Morgan, who qualified for the final at the Paris Olympic Games last summer at 5,000 meters, finished 3000 with a time of 8: 43.35 and the 5,000 with a time of 15: 36.31. She was the best American finisher in the two races.
Ejgayehu Tay of Ethiopia won the 3,000 in 8: 28.42 and the 5,000 in 14: 54.88.

Grand Slam Track is a new professional league created by former Olympic champion Michael Johnson. It consists of four annual events and a system of cumulative points. Athletes must compete in two events of each event to the extent of their versatility.
The meetings are made up of 48 high -level athletes and 48 challengers (emerging athletes).
The remaining events will take place in Miami, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
It was Morgan’s first competition since its fourth place in the 3000 at the world indoor championships in China with a time of 8: 39.18.
