How Kelly Hyland Preserves Her Hair During Cancer Treatment

Kelly Hyland makes the most of a difficult experience.

THE Dance Moms alumna – who opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this month – is undergoing a special scalp treatment to help minimize hair loss during her chemotherapy journey.

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Kelly, who shares girls Brooke Hyland26, and Paige Hyland23 years old, as well as his son Josh Hyland25 years old, with ex-husband Randy Hyland– said she uses the high-tech Amma Scalp System, which “cools the scalp at low temperatures so that blood vessels constrict, reducing blood flow to the hair follicles.”

The 53-year-old continued: “This limits the amount of chemotherapy drugs in the hair follicles.”

Additionally, Kelly also works with Pittsburgh’s Serenity Wig Salon alongside her daughters to create a custom wig that includes “a few baby hairs for a more realistic look.”

“The salon and having my daughters with me made me feel comfortable and more confident,” Kelly said of the wig-making process, “as the thought of losing my hair was difficult for me.”
