How do Trump prices have an impact on the launch of Nintendo Switch 2? : NPR

We spoke to the president of Nintendo of America Doug Bowser of the new console and the opposite winds with which he is confronted.

Some fans of Nintendo assumed that the price of $ 449 from Nintendo Switch explains the world rates. But after President Trump’s most recent announcements, could this number increase in the United States?

What I can share is the $ 449 for the individual SKU, then the $ 499 for the Wornware Sku Plus Mario Kart World. These were made on the basis of previous prices, and there was no impact on the previous prices on these prices. More about this price, I must say, just like all other companies, I am thinking of the United States at the moment, we are actively assessing what the impact can be, but we really have nothing to announce with regard to prices.

What impact do you expect that additional 24% prices on Japanese exports have on your business in the future, not only for switch, but for all that Nintendo America sells?

As I mentioned, we will simply have to actively assess what this impact can be. Things can change in the coming days. So we look at and try to understand what this impact could be and what actions we might have to take.

There is also a concern about availability. Scalping robots are extremely effective. What can Nintendo of America do with its retailers to ensure that each family who wants a launch of Nintendo Switch 2 can one get one?

First of all, we want to meet the demand that exists. We think we have a device in Nintendo Switch 2, and a multitude of games both from Nintendo and our publication partners that consumers will really want to buy and be part. We have been able to create stocks in recent months and be in good position while we are heading for the launch period. Regarding problems such as scalping or robots, we are actively working with our retail partners. They have programs in place to prevent a large part of this action, and we depend on those who sell their products ourselves. We have a unique program in Nintendo.com where we are committed to active users and people with Nintendo accounts established to offer them products above all.

Why settle on June 5 as a release date?

We like to think that the year is a year and that there is no specific deadlines when you have to or have to launch video games. And so, looking at the games we had prepared and ready to launch with the equipment, we thought that June was a very good timing. I would say that hope is that we shelter the greatest number of players as possible, and we want to make sure that we provide content that seduces all types of players, whether families, whether individual players, whether more adult or more mature players. We want to make sure we are where they can find this content. And by having equipment like Nintendo Switch 2 with the Joy-Con remagine controller and mouse capacities, we believe that this will allow us to extend the catalog and bring more developers who may make games that are more controlled by the mouse.

What about flea shortages when we enter a new courageous commercial world? How can you make sure to maintain supply, especially when so many parts come from around the world?

I cannot talk about the details of our manufacturing process and our acquisition of materials. But what I can say is that we have spent a lot of time with our suppliers assuring ourselves that we have a long -term plan with them and a very, very full pipeline, if you want, of materials so that we can respond to the high side of the demand that we plan.

Does Nintendo of America plan to work with your parent company to possibly bring manufacturing to the United States?

We always assess where we should have a manufacture according to the place where volumes are located and also based on other savings and considerations. Thus, at the moment, our manufacturing is mainly located in Southeast Asia, but we are always examining other options to make sure that we have a supply chain made overall.
