How did a ‘locked’ intruder escape from Saif Ali Khan’s apartment? | Latest news India

Mumbai Police on Sunday revealed how the alleged intruder who stabbed Saif Ali Khan entered and left the actor’s apartment on January 16. Police said Khan and his team locked him inside the apartment after the attack, but he slipped out using a well. Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally and changed his name to Bijoy Das, was arrested in Thane district of Maharashtra today. Police said that after attacking Khan inside his house, the accused slept at a bus stop until morning.

“He slept at a bus stop near Patwardhan Garden in Bandra West till 7 am on January 16 after the incident. Later, he boarded a train and reached Worli (in the central Mumbai),” a police official told PTI.

The official said he climbed a pipe into the shaft from the sixth floor to the 12th floor.

“Our investigation revealed that he took the stairs up to the seventh or eighth floor, then entered the duct area, climbed up to the 12th floor using a pipe and broke into the actor’s apartment through the bathroom window He then exited the bathroom”, where he was seen by the actor’s team, which led to the channel. “events leading up to the attack”, the official said.

The official added that he had demanded 1 crore from Saif Ali Khan’s staff. He then stabbed Khan as he came into the room.

Saif Ali Khan locked the house from outside

The officer said Saif Ali Khan locked the man inside the apartment. However, he came down using the same shaft. Police also said they found suspicious items in the man’s bag.

“The accused was surprised and stabbed Khan in the back. Khan then locked the apartment, believing that the accused was trapped inside. However, the accused managed to escape from the same area through which he entered, we recovered a hammer, a screwdriver, nylon rope and other materials from his bag,” the official said.

Police said the accused did not know that he had entered Saif Ali Khan’s house. He realized that the person he attacked was the Bollywood star after watching the TV news.

Shehzad hails from Jhalokathi, also called Jhalakathi, district of Barisal division, southern Bangladesh. He was charged under sections 311 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (theft or dacoity with intent to cause grievous hurt or death), 331 (4) (housebreaking) and other offenses as well as provisions of the Act on passports, the official added.

Meanwhile, his lawyer claimed police had no proof he was a Bangladeshi national.
