After the ultimate sacrifice of Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) to ensure his team safety after being exposed to a deadly virus, the episode “The Last Alarm” reproduced two weeks after his death. Athena (Angela Bassett) is still struggling with the loss of her husband and is consumed in one case that she thinks that Bobby would have taken.
The affair thatinda works is linked to a house fire that Bobby helped eight years ago. It is believed that the fire of the house is a blanket for the removal of a child. Athena is so consumed by the case that she ignores all calls. Henrietta (Aisha Hinds) visits her, and Athena breaks down, overwhelmed by the injury she feels inside.
“If you like someone, you are honest with him. You respect it. You trust what he can make difficult decisions, ”says Athena. “You don’t blind them and do not take off. You do not give them facing the waste – alone. He is not supposed to be dead, hen. He was standing here in this kitchen that morning, planning our future. And he’s just gone. He left me. ”
Henrietta says: “He didn’t want to.”
“And he did it anyway,” adds Athena.
Athena visits the woman in prison, which she helps, and tells her that the child she thinks of being hers is not her child.
“I think you are overcome by sorrow. For a moment, you let yourself believe that miracles were possible, ”explains Athena to the woman.
Eight years earlier, Bobby consoled the woman who lost her baby in the fire of the house and told him that he had lost two children. The woman asks him how he managed the loss and said, “I live in the conviction that one day I will see them again.”
The scene with Bobby gives viewers at home a last overview of Peter Krause and, in a way, also serves as comfort for fans dealing with the loss of his character.
When the funeral party arrives, Chimney (Kenneth Choi) has trouble understanding the choice that Bobby made to save his life, to which Buck (Oliver Stark) said to him: “I think you are just supposed to live.”
Athena arrives at the funeral and in front of the portrait of Bobby says: “Every day, This is the one you choose to leave me to go rider alone.
Chef Simpson offers praise in memory of Captain Bobby, ending with a “last alarm” and a procession. Athena and her two children cry in the coffin of Bobby while “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” by Bob Dylan plays to close the episode.
