- John Aloisi could be the next Matildas manager
- Aloisi, 49, is already a legend of football in Australia
John Aloisi provided Australian football fans for an unforgettable moment when his penalty during a shooting against Uruguay assured that the Socceroos qualified for the 2006 World Cup after more than three decades of pain.
Now he is refreshed like the next full -time coach of the Matildas – and that could not happen at a better time, with the Asian Cup to be held on the local coast next year.
With Aussie Joe Montemurro, based in Europe, Alloisi, 49, was allegedly courted by football Australia to replace the acting manager Tom Sermanni.
Contacted by Daily Mail Australia, Aloisi politely refused to comment on any possible development, indicating that his objective was with Western United before their campaign in the A-Ligue final.
They are sitting in second row after 21 games, with their impressive brand of unmissable football this season.
This comes when former coach Tony Gustavsson played last August after a nightmarish campaign at the Paris Olympic Games – and since then, the Matildas have returned further.
The legend of Socceroos John Aloisi could be the next Matildas coach – he does not need an introduction for many football fans

Winless during the recent Shebelieves Cup in the United States, anyone who assumes that the role will have their hands full.
Last month, Australia fell 16th in the world – their third place in the ranking since their first introduction in 2003.
Their fall in grace was not helped by the long -term absence of striker Sam Kerr, who continues to recover from a rupture of the LCA suffered in January 2024.
The saga of the Kerr court earlier this year in London – where it was declared not guilty of the racially aggravated abuse of a police officer – also generated unwanted titles.
It is difficult to understand the Matildas were semi-finalists of the World Cup in 2023, these were their alarming decline in the form.
The former Matildas Ashleigh Sykes striker undoubtedly Aloisi – who is out of contract with Western United at the end of the A -League season – would excel in the hot seat.
“He is (Alloisi) a very competent coach in the female game as well as the male game, I think he is a big cry,” she told Optus Sport.
“He understands culture, understands what it takes to win as a player of the national team – I think I could get on board with that (appointment).”
Meanwhile, the Matildas face South Korea Friday in Sydney before a second game in Newcastle on Monday, April 7.
In an important blow, Ellie Carpenter (ankle) and Hayley Raso (thigh) will not play and goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold is in doubt due to an arm injury.
