The Houthi rebels positioned terrestrial mines around the port of Hodeidah and other areas populated in anticipation of an earthly offensive by the government forces of Yemen, with the support of the United States, the Saudi Asharq Al-Awsat reported on Saturday.
Qatari press reports earlier in the week said that the internationally recognized Yemeni government based in Aden had intensive talks with the United States and others to perform an invasion of the field. Houthi sources have confirmed to the new Arab that preparations were underway to fortify Houthi positions in anticipation of such an attack.

But more recent reports in Qatar have declared that the regional opposition delays such a plan and that diplomatic transactions had started between several countries involved, to prevent an acceleration of war which would destabilize the region more.
Sources of the Yemeni government have declared that the Houthis had undergone serious damage in the American attacks in recent days, which had affected their military capacities and their internal communications. “This could force them to discussions where they should make concessions if they want to avoid an offensive on the ground, despite what their leaders have said publicly. There is also a call for Houthis to lay down and become a political actor.

The satellite images analyzed by the Associated Press showed that oil deposits and vehicles destroyed during the attack.
The American Central Command (Centcom) said that recent rebels in Yemen aimed to reduce their oil supply because the port, which was built for exports about 40 years ago, had the capacity to store 3 million barrels.

A few hours after the attack, a media affiliated with Houth-Affilié published a clip for US President Donald Trump, describing him as heretics. “You have reached old age and your fate in hell is close,” they said. “Even if you bomb us a million times and burn the floor in flames, we will not take a step from the support of our brothers in Gaza and Palestine.” A mass demonstration took place on Friday in Sanaa, despite the current American attacks.
“American attacks continue to harm civilians and civil sites in Yemen,” the Supreme Houthi political council said in a statement. They said the medical teams were injured during the port strike, doubled the number of injuries. “This is a violation of international humanitarian laws and standards. Attacks aim to strangle the Yemeni people and prevent them from receiving food and medical supplies. These attacks will not remain unanswered and we are ready to degenerate our response.”
