House Republican group backed by President Johnson to spend $141 million on ads
The Congressional Leadership Fund, an independent group affiliated with Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson (La.), plans to set aside $141 million in fall advertising this week, with spending planned for about 30 races it identified as likely to decide the balance of Congress. .
The initial spending plans are nearly $20 million higher than similar bookings made by the group in 2022, while focusing on a much narrower battlefield – including money for just 37 media markets, compared to around 50 markets two years ago. Nearly a third of the money will be spent in the New York and Los Angeles metropolitan areas, where much of the battle for control of the House will take place.
