House fire, explosion injures one in Maryland, firefighters say
A man was taken to the hospital injured after a fire and explosion at a suburban home east of Baltimore, Maryland, a fire official said.
Fire crews responded to the two-alarm fire Saturday evening, the Baltimore County Fire Department said in a statement posted on social media.
The house on Ridgemoor Road in Essex, Maryland, appears in photos shared by the department to have been completely destroyed by the explosion.
Crews were expected to remain on site “for an extended period of time,” the department said. Hazardous materials and fire investigators were en route to the scene, officials said.
The injured man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lt. Twana Allen said in an email to ABC News.
