  • Three adults and a child were taken to a major London trauma center

A horror drive-by shooting took place in Hackney, leaving three adults injured and a child in hospital.

Officers were called around 9.20pm this evening to reports of a shooting near Evin Restaurant on Kingsland High Street.

Eyewitnesses say it was a motorcycle that passed by and fired bullets towards the guests, before fleeing at full speed down the road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where three adults and a child were found with gunshot wounds.

The condition of the three adults is unknown.

They were all taken to a major trauma center at an east London hospital, where the child remains in a critical condition.

An eyewitness, who was at Evin restaurant at the time of the alleged shooting, told the Hackney Gazette he was “busier than usual” before the incident happened.

He said: “There was a large group having dinner in the back. I couldn’t get my usual table, so I got one by the front window.

“The large group paid and left and shortly after that is when loud bangs – which were obviously gunshots – occurred.”

He said everyone dove on the floor and under tables, adding that it was “chaos.”

Seeing that some were injured, he said he used his coat to stop the bleeding from a leg wound.

He continued: “I would say it took about 10 to 15 minutes when the emergency services arrived. First the police, then the NHS staff.

“They were very efficient.”

She said: “At first everyone didn’t think it was (a shooting), it looked like a car not running, but we were at Nando’s and we just saw people walking past in front.

“Everyone came out to watch and we could see a lot of people around this store.

“The police took a while to come and before that we saw the motorcyclist. He went around Nando’s on this road.

“We just wanted to get out of there.”
