Hornets’ Miller out indefinitely with torn wrist ligament

The Charlotte Hornets announced Friday that second-year forward Brandon Miller will be out indefinitely with a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Miller was injured during the team’s 117-112 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.

An MRI revealed a tear in the scapholunate ligament in his wrist.

Miller, the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, was ruled out of Charlotte’s 125-123 win over Chicago on Friday night due to what the team initially called a “sprained wrist.” The Hornets announced the extent of the injury after the game.

“It’s one of those bittersweet things where you’re happy for the win, but bad news for Brandon,” Hornets coach Charles Lee said. “I think we’re going to continue to evaluate where he is and do as many tests as possible.

“We’ll just have to come together and help him with his rehabilitation.”

Miller, the second pick in last year’s NBA draft, is averaging 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season, but he has been plagued by injuries and n He only played 27 matches.

“It really hurts,” Hornets guard LaMelo Ball said of the injury. “I was in the same kind of situation, my first year or my second year, whatever.
