Hollywood Celebrities Get Extra Armed Protection, Snipers Following New Orleans Attack

Hollywood celebrities are reportedly getting extra armed protection for Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony in Beverly Hills, following the terrorist attack in New Orleans and the Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas last week.

Organizers are beefing up security for stars — many of whom are staunch gun control activists — by deploying more regional and federal personnel from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, FBI and Homeland Security, according to a report from Deadline . Additionally, snipers will be placed near the Beverly Hilton Hotel, says another report from Inside Edition.

Snipers are typically deployed at Hollywood award ceremonies, which date back decades. But it appears the armed presence will be larger than usual on Sunday.

The Beverly Hills Police Department will also increase its presence.

A spokesperson for the department told Deadline that they will maintain “increased security measures, including staffing with officers, professional staff and security contractors during this weekend’s Golden Globes.”

Celebrities will be subject to enhanced security searches.

“If we think there is reason to do so, vehicles will be searched inside and out, regardless of who is in them,” an anonymous law enforcement source told Deadline.
The Globes will close one of Los Angeles’ busiest intersections on Sunday, with traffic expected to be affected for miles around the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard is closed to most traffic starting Sunday morning, with nearby streets also closed to make way for limousines and SUVs carrying celebrities and their entourages.

The 82nd annual Golden Globes are set to begin Sunday evening at the Beverly Hilton, with CBS airing the telecast live. The annual party is expected to bring together many of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, with stars including Dwayne Johnson, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez.

This year’s Globes will be dominated by transgender, with the best films leading the way Emilie Pérez And Conclave both featuring gender non-conformity as major plot points.

Conclave has been called anti-Catholic, particularly for its major plot twist revealing that the new pope was intersex – possessing both male and female reproductive organs.

Ratings for the Globes have plummeted in recent years as tens of millions of Americans have opted to tune out to avoid woke sermons from wealthy celebrities.

Last year’s show only managed to attract 9.4 million viewers, a drop from pre-COVID years, when the show attracted double that. As recently as 2020, around 18.4 million people watched the awards ceremony.

But organizers hope host Nikki Glaser will bring some well-deserved laughs with her brand of roast-style stand-up.
