Dealing with abuse from rival footy fans is tough enough, but making fun of your own supporters is something else entirely – just ask Panthers superstar playmaker Nathan Cleary.
After an open training session this weekend, Cleary volunteered his time to take some photos and sign some football memorabilia for the young fans.
In a video clip shared by the club, the shirtless halfback can be seen walking towards a group of young Panthers diehards.
“Someone’s getting a little emotional,” said the mother of the girl wearing a pink Panthers dress.

“She’s having a blast. She wrote you a letter and she forgot it.
Cleary tells the girl not to worry, before complimenting the youngster on her fan gear.
“I love this dress,” Cleary said. ‘Alright.’
Before the girl can respond, another young soccer fan intervenes.
“You should probably wear it sometime,” he told Cleary.
The group of supporters, including two-time medal winner Clive Churchill, burst into laughter at the remark.
The Panthers skipper is currently struggling to recover from a hamstring injury and is reportedly racing against time to be fit for the game against the Tigers in Bathurst next week.
He was tipped to return for the match, but the Herald reported that Cleary was still weeks away from his return.

Some reports suggest that repairing the injury is taking longer than expected.
Cleary suffered a hamstring injury during the Broncos’ grand final rematch earlier this season.
