A man has been stabbed at a busy Melbourne store, just a week after the horror massacre at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney.

A young man was stabbed in front of horrified shoppers outside the Korean barbecue buffet at Seoul Garden at Highpoint shopping center in Melbourne’s west on Sunday.

It is understood that a man pulled a knife on another at around 2.30pm and stabbed him in the upper body.

Bystanders told 9News they saw the man run down the stairs of the restaurant bleeding from his stomach before paramedics arrived on the scene.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The man is being treated for a stab wound.

Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia two men were involved in a physical altercation at a restaurant on Rosamond Road.

The mall has not been locked down and it is believed that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The horror incident comes a week after Joel Cauchi, 40, stabbed five women and a man to death with a 30cm hunting knife in a killing spree on April 13 at Westfield Bondi Junction.

The six victims killed were Yixuan Cheng, Ashlee Good, Pikria Darchia, Jade Young, Dawn Singleton and Faraz Tahir.

The ordeal only ended when brave police officer Amy Scott fatally shot Cauchi after telling him to drop the knife.
