‘Hidden Figures’ Co-Star Glen Powell Feared He’d Ruined the Movie

Glen Powell has an aversion to the rough cuts of his films.

Speaking on a recent episode of Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, linked to Powell watching a rough cut from 2016 Hidden characters for the first time. He was unimpressed and worried he would ruin the film.

Powell played astronaut John Glenn in the Oscar-nominated film. The historical drama was led by Octavia Spencer, Taraji P Henson and Janelle Monáe, who were responsible for launching Glenn into space, making him the first American astronaut to orbit the Earth.

The star said he had a hard time watching the rough cut.

“It comes to mind,” Powell said. “People forget that when you watch the rough cut of a film, it’s probably like watching a sequence of yourself that you have to edit. So you sit there and you’re like, “I hate myself.”

“I remember watching (Hidden Figures) for the first time on the Fox lot – and that was before all the effects were done, the music was in (and) the sound design – and I literally left the movie, and I threw up in the bushes.”

He continued: “I thought I ruined this movie. I was like, “All these women gave great performances and it’s like the legacy of these women – I was like, “I literally ruined this movie.” I feel like the most atrocious thing you can do as an actor is be terrible in a movie about real people who need a real story. »

This may, however, change when other items are added.

“But once the music is there, it starts to get a little polished,” he said. “We all want to be good…and no one wants to be the weak point in a movie, especially when it comes to real-life stories.”

Powell is currently starring in the action-comedy film Hitman, currently showing in cinemas. It will be available to stream on Netflix starting June 7.
