Israeli president Isaac Herzog responded to vandalism on Saturday evening From four Jewish sites in Paris, France.
“I am dismayed by the attack on the Jewish institutions of Paris on the Shabbat-including the synagogue of the Marais district which was built by my great grandfather Rabbi Joel Herzog,” he said in a statement.
“I spoke this evening with the leaders of the CRIF and the Jewish community in France, to express my solidarity and my support for the community.”
Herzog added: “I call the French authorities to act quickly, and firmly to translate the authors into justice and defend the Jewish community against hatred and attacks of all kinds.”
Four sites related to the Jewish community were vandalized on Friday evening in the district of the Marais of the Paris center, French media RTL reported, citing police sources.
The sites included a Holocaust memorial, the Tournelles synagogue, the “Chez Marianne” restaurant and the Agoudath Hakehilot synagogue; All were degraded with green paint.
The incident was discovered by a police patrol around 5:15 a.m.
