TL;DR

  • We have successfully enabled the UI of several health tracking features related to the Galaxy Ring.
  • From this, we can conclude that the Galaxy Ring will most likely support heart rate monitoring, stress tracking, skin temperature measurement for period prediction, and snoring detection.
  • These features are also available on existing Galaxy Watches.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Ring at its Samsung Unpacked event on July 10, 2024, and the ring has the potential to shake up the fitness tracker market. Samsung has already shown what the Ring looks like, and we’ve seen various hints about its features through leaks. Today, we’re bringing you a first look at some of the features the Galaxy Ring will enable in the Samsung Health app.

A Teardown of the APK helps predict features that might come to a service in the future based on the code currently being developed. However, these predicted features may not be publicly released.

We’ve managed to enable a bunch of Galaxy Ring-centric health features in the latest Samsung Health app. To start, users will be able to use the Galaxy Ring to measure their heart rate and stress, and here’s what the user experience will look like in the app:

Additionally, you can use the Galaxy Ring to measure your skin temperature and predict your period. You’ll also be able to use the Galaxy Ring to detect snoring, but you’ll need your phone as a companion, just like you need with the Galaxy Watch.

Tracking snoring in Samsung Health requires your phone to be nearby and charging, and you must allow Samsung Health to record audio through your phone to detect your snoring. You end up with time-stamped audio recordings of your snoring and heavy breathing, although the Galaxy Watch has a less important role here. We believe the Galaxy Ring will work similarly to the Galaxy Watch.

Would you buy a Samsung Galaxy ring?
