After weeks of teasingA comicAnd one animated trailer, Overwatch 2‘s Transformers The crossover goes live today, July 9. While all of the above has given us a clue as to which Blizzard heroes will be sporting looks based on Hasbro’s disguised robots, we’ve yet to see the skins in-game. Blizzard has now released in-game screenshots of each of the skins, as well as concept art for the Ramattra and Reinhardt skins that will be available in the Overwatch 2 store today.

Blizzard artist Bobby Kim explained how the team integrated the mechanical elements that make Transformers“distinct visual identity while preserving Overwatch 2 The heroes’ silhouettes have become recognizable over the years. Reinhardt’s skin, for example, resembles that of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, with his iconic red truck-shaped torso.

“When developing the skin, I tried to incorporate the rugged, truck-like design that Optimus Prime is known for, such as the front windshield and the exhaust on the shoulders of the skin, to give it the appearance of a truck at high speed when charging,” Kim said in a press release. “I also tried to use sharper, more angular parts throughout the skin, which I think captures the iconic look of Optimus Prime.”

Ramattra, meanwhile, has a skin based on Megatron, the antagonist of Transformers The tie-in comic published by Blizzard showed Ramattra and Megatron joining forces, stating that they both wanted peace for the Omnics, the oppressed synthetics of the Monitoring universe. Although I’m not thrilled that Blizzard is doing a true crossover in the universe while its own story is back on iceI can see how Ramattra, a radical fighting for the freedom of the Omnics, finds Megatron’s offer enticing.

Bastion and Illari complete the Transformers skins like Bumblebee and Arcee. Each skin will be available in the Overwatch 2 store next to unlockable Transformers-themed player icons, business cards, and titles. Click to see the skins in action.
