Here’s When ‘Path Of Exile 2’ Could Come Out Of Early Access

Path of Exile 2 is a lot of fun and racks up hundreds of thousands of concurrent players on PC every night. It’s also very unfinished and players may be wondering when it might come out of its Early Access state.

Some games can technically stay in Early Access for years, but that’s probably not the case for Path of Exile 2. We have two points of information that allow us to narrow a window of time.

• A full generation ago, Path of Exile’s original beta realm ran from August 2011 to October 2013, a little over two years.
• However, the official Path of Exile 2 FAQ when Early Access launched stated that it would be at least six months before Early Access ended, but they also believe it should be done by the end of 2025, which would certainly be much less than the 2 years and more. of the first match. This is not a guarantee, but at worst it would take about 13 months if the 2025 date comes true. But we will have to wait until at least May 2025 for this to end.

While there will occasionally be balancing and feature updates as Early Access continues, there will also be significant content additions. GGG’s plan is to effectively double the size of the game over the course of early access and release, which will include things like the remaining three campaign acts, six additional classes with ancestries and more skills, gems and objects. currently very visibly absent from the game.

Another question was: If all of this was added, will there possibly be a character wipe during Early Access to reset everything when big things are added? The answer is no, no wipes during Early Access, but they won’t even wipe your character when the game launches, although they will be moved to a separate “league” just for that batch of characters. Either way, 6-12 months later, most players would probably be able to start again with the game fully released.

Path of Exile 2 is a strong contender for Blizzard’s Diablo 4, one of that studio’s last major ongoing games outside of WoW and Overwatch. It’s already seeing huge numbers in Early Access, and when it launches it will be free-to-play, which Diablo 4 is not. Diablo 4 has indicated that in addition to its current seasons, unlike Diablo 2 and 3, it would continue to make expansions, possibly annual ones, as we have just seen with Vessel of Hatred. I wonder if they see the response to Path of Exile 2 and are considering changes. Although they may want to remain the more “casual” alternative to the throwback to D2’s harder core. We’ll see.
