The first year of the Belichick Post-Bill era did not go very well for the Patriots of New England. They were roughly a waste from start to finish and they finished the year with the fourth NFL record. One of the major problems was their decrepit offense, which checked the 31st in yards and 30th in points.
They have made significant changes this offseason, including coaches staff. They hired Mike Trobel as a new head coach, and he brought back the old friend Josh McDaniels to be again the offensive coordinator of New England. A person who is delighted on this subject: the second-year quarter-rear Drake Maye.
“So far, with McDaniels, it was great,” said Maye, via Masslive.com. “I think his way – he was an attacking coordinator and head coach. It does it at a high level. Things work. The kind of evidence is in pudding. He has resulted in a lot of different guys. He led to the best of whatsoever.
“So, it’s pretty cool to look at the old things of Tom (Brady), and to see how he does. A lot of different guys play at a high level in the offensive and not only Tom. So it was cool to look and learn the ways and learn the ins and outs.”
Patriots Draft Ginners and Losers: New England is responsible for Drake Maye; List retained should be worried

McDaniels has been the offensive coordinator of New England in the past 13 of the last 19 seasons, the team ranking in the top 10 in yards eight times and points 12 times. Of course, he had brady for his part during most of this time, and they obviously developed a report according to what worked and what did not work in several years.
Now McDaniels must develop the same relationships with Maye.
“The coach was great to ask questions about the things I love – things I like last year that we have run. Tips I like they do that I saw the film,” said Maye. “I think it will be good for us because we can do a lot. I think it will be a challenge to discover exactly what is or will be our thing. This is the fun game. This is the chess match. The coach is great to find games. I can’t wait to start the game plan. I know it’s far away, but I’m a kind of getting itch now.”
With all the additions that the patriots made this offseason in attack (not just McDaniels, but Stefon Diggs, Will Campbell, Treveyon Henderson, Kyle Williams and more), it will certainly be more fun for the game plan than last year. The more quality players on hand, the more the game book opens, after all. Given the immense talent of Maye and the history of McDaniels in New England, we should see a much better version of the offensive this coming season.
