A rare but potentially fatal condition struck a family without warning during the holidays in Germany two years ago. And now, a broken mother has become viral on Tiktok, opening up to lose her 3 -year -old daughter against Invasive Streptococcus in 2022.

In an exclusive interview with people, Violetta Hyatt describes the daughter Maddie as a “nice, compassionate and curious little girl” whose advanced vocabulary often surprised foreigners. Before his death, Maddie was an “extraordinary big sister” for his 3 month old brother.

The disease started with a fever, leading to a visit to the doctor. When the fever persisted and Maddie’s breathing became rapid, his parents took him to the hospital. Initially diagnosed with viral respiratory infection, doctors thought that Maddie had human metapneumovirus (HMPV), which generally causes cold -type symptoms. In one of his videos, Hyatt writes that doctors had “a false confidence that they were dealing with it properly”.

But Maddie’s state quickly deteriorated at night before his death. “We did not even know that Maddie had an invasive streptococcus before his death,” reveals Hyatt. Maddie succumbed to infection less than five days after she made a fever for the first time and only after two days in the hospital.

After losing Maddie, Hyatt decided to share the story of her daughter on Tiktok in order to educate the potential dangers to Strup A. “I would not want this to happen to another child or family”, She. His plea has already had an impact, some parents attributing Maddie’s story to “have potentially saved the lives of their children”.

In a video that has been commented on more than 1,000 times, Hyatt writes that Maddie “did not have part of the typical streptococcus like symptoms like: a rash in strawberry tongue (scarlet fever).”

According to the CDC, “group A streptocomic bacteria can cause many different types of infections that range from serious minors. Bacteria can also cause inflammatory diseases”. Although some infections that this causes – such as impetigo, streptococcal throat and scarlet fever – are treatable, this can also cause cellulite, necrotizing fasciitis and toxic shock syndrome.

“The symptoms are not always typical,” warns Hyatt while she highlights the importance of defending her children. “It is better to plead in a non-serious situation than not to defend in a serious situation,” she adds. “More importantly, defend your child and trust your intestine. You will not always have time on your side.

Since the sharing of its history, Hyatt has found the comfort of the support it has received from the Tiktok community. “Although it is a terrible club to do, there is a certain comfort to know that you are not alone,” she shares. “In one way or another, Tiktok feels like a safe space where I can share my sorrow without winding the others.”

She often publishes on her sorrow, with a video that shows her underwater to illustrate what it may feel to get more than 3 million likes and friendly comments. Another returns to happy memories with Maddie and is subtitled, “losing me after losing my daughter”.

While Hyatt continues to navigate his sorrow by counseling and the support of her online community and in person, she remains determined to educate others on Strep to use her platform.
